MPIRG organizes a number of events on an annual basis.
The Student Organizing Conference // This is a crash-course in event-planning, lobbying, working with campus administrators and other decision makers, researching public policy issues and becoming a citizen-activist.
Vagina Monologues // Eve Ensler's play is directed and performed entirely by students at a number of MPIRG's metro-area schools, with all proceeds donated to women's shelters and advocacy (over $120,000 so far).
Take Back the Night // Students also organize the Twin Cities "Take Back the Night" event including a rally, parade and speak-out.
Student Day of Action // The Student Day of Action is held in February or March and allows MPIRGers to hone their lobbying skills at the capitol in face-to-face talks with their legislators. The University of Minnesota – Duluth chapter brings local community organizations together every year at their Free Democracy Summit.
All year round, students are getting engaged in their communities, learning to be good citizens and discussing policy issues that influence the public interest.
