In 1971, college students from across Minnesota came together to establish a nonprofit organization that would utilize the tools in our democratic system to create lasting change on social, environmental, and consumer rights issues. What ensued was a statewide student movement that put these young leaders at the forefront of solving many of the pressing social issues that face Minnesota.

Please RSVP today! We are requesting a $40 contribution for all attendees - that's $1 for every year MPIRG has been fighting to make Minnesota a better place. You can RSVP two ways: 1) send an email to alexandra@mpirg.org if you plan on contributing when you arive or 2) donate today and include a designation on your donation "MPIRG 40". You can also call 612.627.4035 and ask to speak to Josh.

Stay Connected //

If you are an MPIRG alum, please take a moment to fill out a brief survey to provide more details on the event and to help us keep better connected.

As MPIRG Alumni, you know that we wouldn’t be able to achieve the victories we've had without the backing of our student and community members.  Since 1971, support from people like you has helped MPIRG provide training to young people and win monumental victories in the public policy arena.  MPIRG alumni have gone onto have successful careers as legislators, lawyers, and business leaders.  It is with this in mind that we are now re-engaging our Alumni network to provide you with the chance to reconnect with friends and be part of an ever-growing network of professionals.

As this is the first attempt in quite some time to reach out to MPIRG’s alumni, we need your help!  Please take a moment to fill out a brief survey that will help us keep connected.  This will be used to keep us updated about what you are up to, update our lists, and feature alumni profiles on our website.  Also, please take a moment to send an email with the link to this survey to any MPIRG alumni with whom you are still in contact.  You may also email any MPIRG alumni contact information to josh@mpirg.org.  With your help, we can once again reconnect with MPIRGers from over three decades.

We would also like to personally invite you to the MPIRG Alumni Reunion that will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 7 – 9 p.m.  This event will not only be an occasion to network with influential MPIRG alumni, but it will be your opportunity to further support the work that MPIRG does throughout the state.  Please stay tuned for future communications with more details about this event.  Be sure to put this event on your calendar – we will look forward to seeing you there!

Other MPIRG Alumni Opportunities //

MPIRG offers alumni opportunities to mentor current students who are acquiring their voice in activism and also to reconnect with activism as they work side by side with board members by joining the Activist Development Council. The ADC meets once every other month and functions as MPIRG's advisory board. We encourage you to join the fun and volunteer!

All alumni are invited to participate, and we are especially interested in alumni who graduated from undergraduate school five or more years ago.

Alumni can get involved in MPIRG in a number of ways:

1. Learn about the Issues // Take some time to read about MPIRG’s current issues. Each issue page offers a concise case and goal.

2. Get Involved // Contact your legislators. Tell your friends. Donate to MPIRG. Write the editor of your local newspaper. Get involved with MPIRG as an advisor.
